WHAT TO EXPECT?
GERGELY ZSOLNAY
CREATIVE CHEF OF THE PLANTEEN

Gergely Zsolnay is a horticulturist, vegan chef and nutritionist. In addition to sustainable growing and gourmet plant-based cooking, he has a wealth of knowledge about pairing ingredients to eat healthily. 

Thanks to his wide-ranging experience and boundless creativity, he is always able to surprise guests and make even the most sceptical ones think with his mind-opening presentations.

 

Previously a hunter and animal keeper, he has followed a unique path to a plant-based lifestyle, which he has now been enthusiastically promoting for 6 years.

 

In 2023, he won the award for the "Healthy Chef of the Year" in the professional category.

A properly composed plant-based diet can reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and some types of cancer. It can also be healthier, as it is lower in saturated fat and cholesterol, and higher in fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Industrial livestock farming contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation and water pollution. By choosing vegan catering, you can reduce the environmental footprint of your next event.

Veganism promotes compassion and respect for all living things, including animals, by avoiding their exploitation and suffering for food. It offers a more ethical alternative to traditional meat-based foods.

Plant-based meals accommodate a wider range of dietary restrictions and preferences, including lactose or egg sensitivity, religious or cultural restrictions on meat consumption, or even a gluten-free diet.

For two years now, The Planteen has been serving us delicious and impressive breakfasts every Wednesday morning under the guidance of Executive Chef Gergely Zsolnay. At the Vegan Business Circle breakfasts we try to show our members and guests the potential of plant-based nutrition and aim to offer them a unique gastronomic experience. Based on the feedback we have received, Planteen's breakfasts deserve a maximum of 5 stars on both counts.

We wanted to celebrate the end of the corporate Veganuary campaign and the opening of the new office with a brunch. The Planteen team organised the event very quickly, flexibly and smoothly. The snacks were delicious and we received a lot of useful information about plant-based diets. We were particularly pleased with the environmentally friendly serving. The feedback was very positive, even our initially sceptical colleagues loved the vegan food.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

We do not use products of animal origin, thereby supporting the health of our guests and the protection of our planet and animals.

We do not use PET bottles. We offer homemade syrups or lemonades. Our alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are supplied by domestic organic wineries, craft breweries and local manufacturers.

When planning, we strive to properly estimate quantities to minimise food waste. We bring eco-friendly takeaway boxes to all events so that participants can take home their favourite food if there are any leftovers. If there is any food left over, we donate it to people in need. 

We use environmentally conscious utensils and materials such as plates, napkins, cutlery, takeaway boxes, printed material, cleaning supplies. 

In line with our mission, we also hold presentations on plant-based and sustainable nutrition to expand mindsets.

When planning our offer, we choose seasonal and local ingredients when possible and we prepare everything we can in-house. 

We do not use palm oil, as it has a huge impact on the environment.

For our meeting box service, we use innovative RevoBox® boxes that can be reused up to 500 times and are 100% recyclable.

Our meals are delivered by a cargo bike or plug-in hybrid car, reducing our impact on the environment.

Felelős Gasztrohős and GreenGuide have both certified us from a sustainable operations perspective. In 2023, we were awarded the METRO Sustainable Gastronomy Award in the “restaurant/catering establishment" category.
